Notes

I deliberately choose a lighter color for the mohair silk, to brighten up the overall effect and give the ullcentrum a bit of shading.
After getting my MC yarn I knitted up a swatch to take to the LYS to look for my Let Lopi yarn; this is kind of a soft start….
I got a white for the lighter CC and decided on the soft blue for the darker CC. Happy with the color combination.

5.12. Did a st st swatch on both #7 and #8 and am at the right gauge with the larger needle for both stitch and row count.

5.30. Finished the Rebirth Pullover last night and started on this this morning. I call it my coat or jacket with the big oversized sleeve cuffs.
Cast on 40 sts for the cuff and work the cuff on #5 needles.

6.1. Looked up the meaning of LETHO:
Other theories connect it to Greek λήθω (letho) meaning “hidden, forgotten”. In Greek mythology she was the mother of Apollo and Artemis by Zeus.
LETO was one of the Titanides (female Titans), a bride of Zeus, and the mother of the twin gods Apollon and Artemis. She was the goddess of motherhood and, with her children, a protectress of the young. Her name and iconography suggest she was also a goddess of modesty and womanly demure.

And the quote?!
“- Why me?
– That is a very Earthling question to ask, Mr. Pilgrim. Why you? Why us for that matter? Why anything? Because this moment simply is. Have you ever seen bugs trapped in amber?
– Yes.
– Well, here we are, Mr. Pilgrim, trapped in the amber of this moment. There is no why.”

6.8. Doing seven sleeve increases to get to the stitch count for XS.

6.14. I measure 29.5 “ for measurement from center neck to where I want the sleeve to end. I also want to do the shoulder shaping more fitted, so I am working the sleeves to 18” before starting the underarm shaping.

6.15. when casting on for and working the body , it came in very handy that I knit small circumferences ( such as sleeves) on two circular needles. This way I did not need to change needles to a longer cable or do the magic loop, but just kept front and back on the separate needles which means I don’t need to put sts on waste yarn later either, but keep them on the respective needle.
I would have liked to add 6“ to the body length , but was worried about running out of yarn and added 4“ (18 stitches) instead.

6.16. worked a pocket opening in the 10th row (RS) after the provisional cast on. Stitches 16 to 32 above the edge on waste yarn and cast on 18 new stitches in I-cord cast on, but k2tog, P2tog where the pocket edge meets the body. I will later pick up sts along the I-cord and with the other live stitches knit a bias shaped tube for the pocket.

8.16. - 8.20. Did the 3-needle-bind-off connecting the two halves together and then had the hardest time putting it down again ( for my friend to catch up; she fell behind at no fault of her own!). So I also did the mosaic and welts. smiling_face_with_3_hearts
With the long rows it was drudgery , but I love the look.
Something to consider:
I came across the flat version of the visible three needle bind off only now and would have redone it as I like the look better flat, but since I already did the welts, I will stick with the regular look.

9.3. Picked up 167 stitches for the body ribbing.

12.9. I couldn‘t resist and finished the brioche collar ahead of my friend. Now I only need to bind off and do the pockets smiling_face_with_3_hearts

12.10. I-cord bind off. I bound off with needle size #9, gradually switching to #10.75 around the top of the collar

Pockets: on #6 CO 2x 16 sts using Judy’s magic cast on.
4 rounds
Then increase 1 every other round along one edge only eight times.
12 rounds
3 needle BO on the straight edge 6 sts
Add the mohair yarn and 3 rounds on #6
3 rounds on #7
2 rounds on #8 and k 2 tog at beginning and end of each side.
Then Kitchener stitch to body opening for pockets.

1.7.2024 snowed in today; the perfect opportunity to set in the pockets and FINISH!
I love it smiling_face_with_3_hearts
