Notes

Tony picked this yarn for a cowl because it is oh so soft.
I am planning to knit this one last with some stripes, not as many as in the original pattern.
I will be using yarn from the other five projects for the stripes grinning, so all the kids can be represented. Instead of the sock yarn I will use yarn from earlier projects.
I added two sts at the beginning and end of the rows for a slip stitch selvage edge.
I thought about working the “spine” stitches ( the middle sts of increases and decreases) in stockinette stitch, but in the end stuck with garter stitch throughout. Perhaps next time.
Each stripe has a story, represents something from our family history heart
I decided on joining the live stitches using Kitchener stitch and you really can’t tell where the seam is.
After weaving in the yarn ends, I crochet around that selvage edge very loosely to catch the yarn ends and make that eagle as neat as the other one.
I love how the cowl scrunches up origami style. It came out great!
