2013/1/20: This time, I’m going to use the correct measurement to determine number of stitches to cast on!

Again using Cat Bordhi’s Möbius Cast On. See it in her video.

Swatched to get a gauge. 2x2 rib slightly stretched, get 5 sts/inch. “Slightly stretched” can be so nicely manipulated. Want 4 + 2 sts, so cast on 202.

2013/2/2: Have joined the second ball of yarn, and the cowl is about 5 1/4” deep.

2013/2/5: Not really relevant to progress, but just finished rescuing this from a broken cable. Carrying on again.

2013/2/10: It’s done! This soft yarn! The design! I have rarely been actually ecstatic about a finished project, but I am now. I finished weaving in the ends, tried it on, and have not taken it off, even though it is intended for my winter coat.

I still intend to write this up with all my process notes into something resembling a workable pattern. Will post!

Finished, it is 9” deep. Returning to the “slightly stretched” I used to measure gauge, it meets the desired 40” around. Of course, with this 2x2 rib, it pulls in somewhat, but it is still looser around than the beige prototype. There is a bit over 1 yard of yarn left.

Since such a form has no “wrong” side, used duplicate stitch to weave in the ends.
