Notes

I have 54 g of blue yarn and 57 g of grey yarn.

Using Jeny’s surprisingle stretchy CO and casting on 40 sts holding the yarns double.

ROW1: knit
ROWS 2-4: k1, p1
ROWS 5-10: knit

ROW 11-80 drop second yarn and alternate between knitting 1-3 rows with each color.

Row 81: Start knitting with both yarns held together and start increases.

Turn row counter to 0

Work thumb gusset as in pattern: increase until there are 60 sts (10 increase rounds) on row 29.
On row 30, divide for thumb and continue knitting with 44 sts.
Knit until row 45 and then on row 46 start rib and decrease 2 sts on both sides (leaving 40 sts).
Rows 46-49 knit “helmineule” (knit on purls and purl on knits).

On row 50, bind off:

Knit thumbs on 2,5 mm needles: 2 rows of knit + 6 rows of pearl stitch.

The pattern was clear and the mitts fit great!
Weight 85 g.

Next time:

  • When knitting the long version, CO 50 sts if you want the cuff to be slouchy
  • Decrease sts on the wrist (before starting the thumb gusset)
