Wanted to make this for a long time. And so happy I did, I LOVE it. The pattern is great, very fond of the simplicity of the design and for me it is a perfect match with the beautiful yarns. Enjoyed every minute of making it..
About the pattern:
Written pattern, and very easy. For me it was a very relaxed knit, without getting boring. The short rows and the eyelet rows give you the feeling it is getting pretty quick. I took me longer to finish because I alternated this project with others.. Made no modifications.
Some Notes:
- Knitted with 2 strands at the same time (one thread Delight Fingering and one thread Kidsilk Mohair).
- No picking up wraps
- Slipping stitches for the wraps purlwise
- Left the wrapped stich out of the stitch-counting ( so: … K …, wrapped st, then started counting for K15)
- Making the yo I left out of the stitch-counting for K15
- In the short-rows and eyelet sections: I repeated row 13 and 14 till there where less then 15 stitches left (exclusive the 2 edge stitches). Then I knitted row 13 and 14 without wrapping a stitch and so that all stitches are knitted at least one time. Then I started with row 15 - 18.
- Eyelet border: knitted row 7 and 8 only 4 times (in stead of 5) because I ran out of yarn..
- Elastic bind off
- Blocked it firm and shaped the scarf bit round in the neckline so the scarf stays better around my neck and also shaped the eyelet border bit round.
Measurements after blocking:
190 x 65 cm
For next time:
Learned that even though the yarns had almost the same yardage, the Kidsilk Mohair eats more yards (about 1100 yards Kidsilk to 880 yards Delight fingering)
About the yarn:
One of the yarns is called Delight and it is really a delight working with it. Soft, firm and a soft hair. Blocks great and stays beautiful. No pilling what so ever. The Kidsilk Mohair is also a dream to knit with. So soft and gives for me a tender cloudy touche to the knitting… Feels like pure luxury for me…. ;-)
Color is: shades of grey with soft hues of turquoise, beige-rosé, olive. My favorite color ;-) LOVE it !
