Making a Dutch Bunny version, so cast on and knit body in black to 3” past round 12, switched to white and knit until 4” past round 12 and followed pattern in white until increase for head.
I kind of forgot that you can't it’s pretty hard to do intarsia in the round, so I had to fiddle with the head instructions - after ripping the whole thing back (ugh!) I think this is the right method.
Knit the head in white as directed. Switch to black for ears. Because Dutch rabbits have short stand up ears, I modified the ear pattern as follows:
Rows 1-4: Knit
Row 5: (K5, KFB) repeat to the end of the round. 14 sts.
Row 6-7: Knit
Row 8: (K6, KFB) repeat to the end of the round. 16 sts.
Row 9-10: Knit
Row 11: (K7, KFB) repeat to the end of the round. 18 sts.
Row 12-13: Knit
Row 14: (K4, K2tog) repeat to the end of the round. 15 sts.
Row 15-16: Knit
Row 17: (K3, K2tog) repeat to the end of the round. 12 sts.
Row 18: (K2, K2tog) repeat to the end of the round. 9 sts.
Row 19: (K1, K2tog) repeat to the end of the round. 6 sts.
Row 20: (K2tog) repeat to the end of the round. 3 sts.
Row 21: K2tog, K1. Bind off.
For head markings I winged it by eyeballing the crochet pattern referenced, making a weird little cap - cast on 7 stitches in black, purl 1 row, K1, M1, K to end of row. Purl. K1, M1, K to end of row. Purl. K1, M1, K to end of row. Purl. Stockinette Stitch for 7 rows (end on purl row). K3, bind off 5, K2. Purl 2, cast on 5, purl 3. Knit 1 row, purl 1 row. K3, bind off 5, K2. Purl 2, cast on 5, purl 3. Stockinette stitch for 8 rows (end on purl row). K1, SSK, K to end of row. Purl. K1, SSK, K to end of row. Purl. K1, SSK, K to end of row. Bind off purlwise. Pick up stitches along the straight edge of the piece. Purl one row, then work short rows to “turn the heel” and fill in the back of the ‘cap’. Try on periodically by slipping ears through the button holes - when the back covers the back of the head, bind off. Slip ‘cap’ on and whipstitch to the rabbit’s head to match photo.
Arms - follow pattern exactly in white.
Feet - follow pattern, picking up stitches and doing rows 1-7 in black, 8 - 10 in white.
Tail should be black - I used a fork to make the pompom.
I started the sweater far too late in the evening and had to redo it. It wouldn’t close in the front so I picked up and knit a 2row garter button band on each side - next time I would leave out buttonholes altogether and not stuff bunny so much.
