Two or three years ago I found this amazing Super Mario Blanket here on Ravelry and decided that I need to have it. (Thanks to GE – GE Crochet for this great inspiration) Considering the amount of work and the fact that I never crocheted before, I gave it a few days to think about it. Showing this blanket to my hubby he only said “Darling, lets buy wool” and the actual decision of crocheting the blanket was made!
After a crash course in tunisian crocheting via Internet (Crocheting and I…We’ll never be friends!!) I bought 15 – 20 Mega balls of wool. (I can’t recall the actual amount of wool, but they were MANY!! But oh well, the blanket is pretty colourful, isn’t it?)
I crocheted the blanket in long rows, that means 5 separate pictures one below the other, which have been linked to each other with the kitchener stitch. (I know how to do the kitchener stitch now!!!)
The three bigger pictures in the lower part of the blanket as well as the border have been crocheted separately and linked to the rest of the blanket with the kitchener stitch. (AGAIN the kitchener stitch!!)
After 1 1/2 year I finished the blanket. Since I decided to crochet it twice as big as the original, it took me a little bit longer… By now only a “few” threads need to be sewed up. The measures of the blanket are 2, 30 x 2, 30 meters.

Funny remark: The initials of

coincidentally the initials of my hubby and me, therefore the little red heart in the lower right corner…

Vor 2 oder 3 Jahren habe ich hier in Ravelry eine “Super Mario” Tagesdecke entdeckt (Vielen Dank an “GE-GE Crochet” für die tolle Inspiration :-) )
Absolut großartig und für mich ein “must have”. Gehäkelt habe ich vorher noch gar nicht, aber was macht man nicht alles…
Nach 2 Tagen Bedenkzeit (ich wusste ja, was mich erwarten würde…), zeigt ich die Decke meinem Mann, - Kommentar: “Schatzi, laß uns Wolle kaufen”.
Nach einem Crash Kurs in tunesischem häkeln via Internet (“Häkeln und ich werden keine Freunde…”) wurden dann ca. 15 - 20 Riesenknäuel Wolle eingekauft (Genaue Anzahl weiß ich es nicht mehr, aber es waren viiiiele! - aber die Decke ist ja auch bunt!)

Gehäkelt habe ich die Decke in langen Bahnen, d.h. i.d.R. 5 einzelne Muster-Bilder untereinander, die einzelnen Bahnen dann per Maschenstich zusammengesetzt (Ja, den kann ich jetzt!) Die größeren 3 unteren Bilder sowie die Ränder ringsrum sind separat gehäkelt und angesetzt (und wieder Maschenstich).
Nach über 1,5 Jahren war das Werk dann endlich fertig - bis auf “ein wenig” Fäden vernähen.
Da ich die Decke nahezu doppelt so groß gemacht habe, wie das “Original”, hat es ein wenig länger gedauert. Maße ca. 2,30m x 2,30m. Ich hoffe, sie gefällt euch so wie mir! Gruß Sylvai

Nebenbei noch: Die Anfangsbuchstaben von
S uper M ario B rothers sind auch zufällig die Initialen von meinem Liebsten und mir:-) daher das kleine rote Herzchen rechts unten <3
