Notes

15Nov2016: I decided to frog this and make something new with this beautiful yarn! Can’t wait to cast on a new project.

Feb 26: I’m so happy with the end result of this sweater - even without blocking it looks so nice. I love how it fits, and I love the big cowl neck (which took a full skein, or 200 yards). I only wish I had made the arms a little bigger, but I hope that the sleeves will grow a little with blocking. It was my first time working with madelinetosh yarn, and I really love it - it’s a pleasure to work with, and the stitch definition is superb! I just made it under 6 skeins, or 1200 yards, which means I can use the last of this lovely skein for another project. It’s being blocked now, and I hope I can wear it in time for casual friday!

Feb 22: things are moving along. I’m at the back ribbing section and then I’ll just have sleeves and the neck to do, which I expect to take some time. I finished grafting the two parts back together and it doesn’t look too bad, but in retrospect I would have tinked and redone the work since the grafting isnt perfect.

Feb 19: I am now onto the body part, but after working 30 rows, I realized the arm opening was too small… I didn’t want to tink back 30 rows, which took me a while, so I had this idea of separating the top part where the arms are first attached from the body - and then add rows to lengthen the top part, attach the arms, and then graft the body to the top part. It’s been a pretty tedious process, and I’m in the middle of grafting the stitches together - and I don’t know if I’m happy about it. The grafting is puckering the stitches a bit, and now I’m thinking of just redoing the body. Other than the small opening for the arm, I really like this pattern, and I’ve learned that I just had to trust what was written instead of overthinking it. I’m really looking forward to this being done, and I hope I get some wear out of this garment before summer.

Feb 1: finished both saddles.

January 26: Gauge was spot on. I love the color and texture of this yarn! My first Tosh project, and my second project from Joji… I can’t wait to cast on!
