Isn’t Melody Griffiths a wonderful designer! I love her designs. This is the second one I’m crocheting out of her fantastic book “crocheted afghans”.

In yarn colors a ruby red (don’t have the label), pink (watermelon) and white.

Stitch is easy just double crochets - the trick is working with two yarns at once, dropping your color to go to the new color and working the previous color into your new color stitches to carry it along.

Very cute gingham pattern and I can see using this pattern many different ways (would make great washcloths or potholders too) and in many colors.

Border: After two solid rounds of double crochet I decided to “wing” the rest and added my own border design. Basically just double crochet, chain one in space with 3 DCs in corners. I added as many DCs in corner as needed so it wouldn’t curl up. The last round in white is single crochet, chain two in space all the way around.
