Yarn colors: Yellow, white, black and Watermelon (hot pink)

For the flaps: after crocheting the first flap I figured out where the second flap would go by the following formula.

64 stitches around the child hat
12 stitches for each flap = 24 stitches
64 Minus 24 stitches = 40 stitches
So I placed the second flap 20 stitches from the first and marked with stitch markers. Double check your stitches are even between each flap.

I also tacked down the hair pieces to hold them in place better.
