You will need one 4" square weavie and (1) 4" side-to-side hexagon. Use sturdy yarn to weave the hexagon, i.e. double sock yarn, acrylics, or dishcloth cotton. If your chair has thicker legs, consider weaving an ATC rectangle.

Use a running stitch along the edges of the hexagon. A contrasting color is used here for demonstration, you could use the weaving tails as well.

Pull in the running stitch until the opening is about as big as the tube sleeve. Sew the "paw" to the "leg".

Decorate with "claws" if desired. (Please note that with a better choice of colors, this prototype chair sock would actually look much more like a cat paw!)

One reason why my 2020 Patchwork Project is not growing much is because I constantly use “extra weavies” for sampling and prototyping.

For example yesterday, when somebody posted a picture of a crocheted cat paw chair sock (see video instructions on Youtube HERE) and suggested that this “could probably be woven, too”.

I could not resist the fun, so here is a woven cat paw chair sock!
