I’m not sure what needles size to use to get the correct gauge. I don’t find blocked tension guides useful at all as how much you stretch when blocking can be so variable. I wish designers would use unblocked tension instructions - I need to know that I’m not going to run out of yarn on my unblocked project.

I did 2 tension samples on 4mm and 4.5mm needles - both are smaller than the blocked size stated, both could easily be blocked to the size stated in the pattern. I’m going to go with the 4mm, although I’m worried it might end up too small.

22/08/2015 Finished the main section of the shawl and starting on the lace.

24/08/2015 Over halfway done with the border now. The body of the shawl makes up so quickly, it feels like you’re almost done when you start on the border, but there’s a lot of border!

25/08/2015 All the knitting is done, I just need to block it :)

27/08/2015 It’s all pinned out. Final size is 22” deep by 67”, which is pretty much spot on :)
