Test knit for Meghan - fell in love with it the minute I saw it.

I love the construction of this shawl. It’s knitted bottom up, so you do all the hard work to start with, then it gets easier as you go.

I used a skein of BFL Silk I got to test, dyed in my Leaden colourway. Thinking I won’t release this yarn, despite liking it - I think I have enough fingering weights! The shawl was designed for Silky Merino Fingering.

Things I would do differently if I knit this again:

  • cast on with 5mm needle, instead of 4.5mm. That way the border would be looser and the points pointier.
  • get better at reading charts. I’m a written instruction girl and I made a couple of silly mistakes due to poor chart reading skills.
  • get better at knitting nupps, although this shawl has sent me halfway there.

The pattern is well written and fantastically fun to knit.
