REVERSIBLE PROJECT ONE ~
Gotta say, I am definitely challenged! New techniques for me include: provisional cast-on, knitting cast-on, kitchener stitch in k1p1, attaching a new color WITHOUT a right/wrong side and grafting not to mention a revisiting of short rows for shaping. LOTS of shaping!
Where to begin: gauge, gauge, gauge! Cannot get it! After MANY swatches, I think I will be able to get the dimensions I want by following the X-small directions as well as going down a needle size from the recommended. I am at an advantage with fit as the fabric is quite elastic. I am nowhere NEAR the gauge in the vertical. All has to be re-configured mathematically as I work each section. So far so good.
Now, regarding the construction. It is worked from the top down, starts with straps and eventually you join front and back straps via the provisional cast on, (I practiced a lot and one shoulder looks better than the other), then all kinds of twists and turns all worked in k1p1. I sure hope I like it.
Photos ~ the vest is REVERSIBLE ~ allowing you to be conservative one day and sport a more fun side, another! It is not only reversible backwards and forwards but also can be turned inside out. You would never think of how challenging that might be to knit. This is a project for the knitter who thrives on precision and technique. I think that would be me!
