Slater needed a summer hat. Being fair, I knew he’d need something to cover his neck so my bandana pattern was the obvious choice.

I held two strands of yarn together - one was an oddment of fingering weight cotton - the other was some Hobbycraft Soft and Silky 4 ply. I worked the crown and body to 70sts.

I offered him a choice of things to go on the side like sail boat, anchor, ship’s wheel, etc - yup, ,mum had a nautical theme in mind.

Slater, on the other hand, wanted to be a pirate so, skull and crossbones, it was.

It turned out pretty cute so I decided to bundle the skull and crossbones with the pattern as a bonus item for anyone who wants to do the same.
