Notes

1 strand hand dyed merino 4 ply (100g)
1 strand lace weight alpaca/silk (50g)

Ideally, section one needs to be 6” wide (blocked) & 68” long (also blocked). It might not be…

Guessing the stitch & row count as I go… fingers crossed I don’t run out!

Hmmm…. so, section one is finished already. But… it’s only 52” long, not 68”…

I only have one skein of the hand dyed yarn and would like to work the pompom edging.

What to do?….

Blimey this grew fast!
Section one completed on Sunday, section two, Monday night and section three Tuesday night.

I think it will be just long enough once it’s washed and blocked. Sadly there wasn’t enough of the merino yarn to work the pompom edging but I’m very pleased with the size I managed with just one skein!

I followed the pattern directions for the small version for stitch and row count, and adjusted section three as I ran low on yarn.

My merino yarn had originally been a scarf, made with 2 skeins. It was far too big and had never been worn, so I had frogged one skeins worth.
I put the much smaller scarf away somewhere and couldn’t find it when I came to make Looks Like Rain.
I have now found it and will frog it as well. I will try and add a little length just at the ends (I don’t want more width) and then work all the pompoms.

Thank goodness I recorded my hook size here! I might finally get on with it but couldn’t remember what hook I’d used!

I tried the pompoms but they just didn’t look right with these two yarns together.
So I went for a dtr eyelet row, topped with (hopefully) pointy peaks. Very nearly ran out of the lace weight yarn!

Hoping it will stretch just a little in length when I wash it.
