Notes

Fell in love with this design the moment I saw it!
I haven’t knitted anything bigger than a hat for a VERY LONG TIME !!! However, my chosen yarn has been ordered and I will at least start. Not looking forward to all that garter stitch to start with though!

Will definitely be working a tension square!

The yarn is on offer, so I ordered 10 balls as the yardage is quite different from the pattern!

Looking at all the linked projects, I might try and make the ‘shoulders’ a little narrower as well.

Fingers crossed!!!

PHEW!!!!! I was really worried this was going to look like a potato sack on me but it’s fine! As long as the yarn doesn’t do anything silly when I wash and block it…

Lovely pattern and well written but as I’m a pear shape I made some extra decreases around the waist.
I’ll add notes later.

I followed the instructions for 44.5” on the whole except-
I worked 5 sets of decreases for the waist shaping. Plus at the 3rd, 4th & 5th shaping I also added 2 decreases either side of the centre back, to sort of form small darts.
This meant I had decreased an extra 14 sts compared to the pattern.
I started the armholes at 13.5” length. When I divided for the front and back, I cast off 12 sts for each armhole, leaving 48sts per front and 94sts for the back.
I shaped the armholes and neck edge as per the pattern.
I shortened the armholes a little, working 57 rows from BO row.
I was left with 20sts per shoulder and 38 at the back neck. Decrease as pattern except at shoulder I cast off 7, 5, 5.

For the armhole and front edges, I picked up sts, worked one garter st row (from wrong side),then cast off. For the neck edge, I worked 3 rows garter stitch, then cast off.

Hmmm…. well, washing relaxed the yarn and now it feels too big to wear.
I’m considering taking off the edgings and seeing if I can seam the front edges together to make a tank top.
Or using the sewing machine to make some serious darts in the back to take out the excess fabric. Turns out I’m not keen on positive ease!
