Notes

Two-at-a-time improvised socks for Wade’s size 15+ feet using a combination of Stephanie Pearl-McPhee’s sock recipe, Melissa Morgan-Oakes’ two-at-a-time method, and my imagination.

Wanted really warm thick socks so:

Using worsted yarn and a size 3 needle, CO 60 sts in contrast color. K2P2 ribbing for…awhile. Switch to main color, K all (st st) around and around until…long enough. Switch to CC, knit reinforced heel flap. Switch to MC, do gusset and st st round and round for the foot until 1 1/2” from end. Switch to CC, knit toe (maybe I’ll try Cat Bordhi’s turned toe?). Graft shut. Ta-da!

I can’t believe I have designed my own socks. Granted, nothing fascinating or earth-shattering, but they’re mine! And I don’t have a pattern! For a person who’s very pattern-dependent, this is groundbreaking!

Socks currently on hold due to the breaking of my only size 3 40” circular. Sadface.
