Notes

My gauge requires 6.5mm needles instead of the 6mm for the main stockinette pattern and I will keep to the 5mm needed for the ribbing as ribbing is quite stretchy anyway and use a knit through the back loop technique instead of the standard knit stitch for the rib.

I ended up making the arms longer to (by request) reach her knuckles i.e 56 cm. I also knitted the rim of the hood in rib in parts rather than picking up and knitting all the way along. This took about 500g in the largest size and with extra length to the sleeves.

Pockets These are my first pockets and I hadn’t a clue how to make them up. I watched http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Vp1k-2EvmY which uses the same technique and was very helpful.

  1. Put your pocket lining, which is on a stitch holder, onto a needle which is close to the size you’re using for the main body.
  2. Place your required stitches from the main body of the jumper onto that stitch holder.
  3. Put pocket lining knit side up and knit across those stitches, placing the pocket lining behind the main body of work. See my photo/s to see what I mean.
