Notes

My first test-knit, I´m very excited :)

Thank You so much, Josée!

I really love the design as it reminds me a lot of my favorite sweater when I was a child. It had different colours, two shades of blue and red stripes (as far as I can remember :) ), but pretty much the same look.

The pattern is very well written, fun and slightly addictive to knit and as you can see on other testers sweaters, you have endless posibilities to make it your own by just changing the stripes (or colours of course, or both).

And this one turned out exactly how I imaged, with some small setbacks while knitting, as some of my ideas didn´t work out very well and I had to do some parts twice :D But the most important thing is that I´m more than happy with the result.

I did some mods, some planned and some because I decided differently while knitting.

Yoke:

  • cast on for size M to get a bit wider neckline
  • followed the numbers for M for the short-row part
  • K2p2 ribbing (I just like it a bit more than k1p1) and 7 rows of ribbing instead of 5
  • used german short rows, which means I had to knit one additional stitch after the double-stitch ( “YO together with next st” in pattern) to get the same stitch count
  • I stopped knitting short-rows after row 21, as I wanted a more round neckline and did two more st before the turn at my last one, then worked the complete rows up to row 30 with raglan increases for sleeves and body on RS. ( Same as it would be in short-rows)
  • recalculated the increases from here for my size
  • I decided to ad some coloured stripes at the yoke to my main colours, started them at the same point like the stripes on the body starts in the pattern (row 14 after the first stripe at the sleeve)

Stripes:

4 rows colour B
6 rows colour C
4 rows colour B
10 rows colour D
4 rows colour B
6 rows colour C
4 rows colour B

My yoke got a bit too long, but in the end I can get along with that very well. And the sewing took me several attemps, but I have never done it before so I think that´s ok :)

Sleeves:

  • only 5 dec. rounds every 15th round. Wanted them a bit wider
  • last to stripes in colour C and D.
  • added some more rounds

Body:

  • I spread the shaping a bit more over the body, as that works better for my shape. Dec. and Inc. every 12th round.

  • did the short rows at the bottom of the body at first, but when I tried it on I was somehow not so happy how it looks on me. So I ripped it back, added one more stripe and knitted it straight.

  • k2p2 ribbing and more rounds

  • stripes at the body are 14 rows colour A, 4 rows colour B
