….or the hat that got me hooked. :)

I have to admit, I made this hat last year. It was one of my first knitting projects. And as it is my favorite hat and I wear it almost all the time (well, when it´s cold enough for hats), I decided it deserves his own project page too.

When the pattern came out, I knew I needed such a hat. I never heard of Holst before at that time, so I googled and ordered the same colours as in the original design. But I so wanted to start knitting this, that I took some cheap yarn I´ve bought at the mall and made one in three colours, kind of a test hat for me. It turned out huge (It was a sportweight yarn). I had no idea of yarnweight and gauge and all that stuff and I ruined it a little later by putting it into the washing mashine (not the wool washing programm). The natural coloured yarn felted, the other colours didn´t. It looked very funny afterwards, but wasn´t wearable anymore.

Rookie mistake, I would say. :)

Then the yarn came, it took me quite some time to finish the second one, but after that I got really addicted to knitting.
I preferred crochet at the beginning, as you have just one needle and one stitch on your needle. Two kneedles and lots of lots of stitches on them, that was too much to coordinate.

That hat changed it all, so thank you very much, Rililie, for that beautiful pattern! :)

I´m pretty sure I´ll make another one oneday. :)
