Lots of modifications to make this just the way I wanted it--and they pretty much worked.

Used size 7 needles to get a smaller sweater, newborn size.

Omitted purl ridges.

CO 27 brown with size 7 needles using knitted cast-on. Worked 4 rows k2p2 rib.

Switched to orange. Ignored the k3/p3 at beginning and end of all rows (and reduced expected stitch count by 6).

Put the sleeves on stitch holders and knit the body for 18 rows. Changed to brown and k2p2 rib with size 5 needles for 8 rows. CO with size 5 needles using super stretchy bind off.

Picked up sleeve stitches and knit in the round for 22 rows. Switched to brown to work decrease row. K2p2 rib for 8 rows. CO as before. Repeat for other sleeve.

Did all ribbing bands with size 5 needles (except the neck, because I hadn’t thought of it). PU 50 (should have done 54) along front edge k2p2 rib for 8 rows. Repeat on other side, adding 2-stitch wide buttonholes evenly spaced. (Well, mostly evenly.)

I’m very proud of this, my first cardigan.
