Notes

7 Mar 2011 - A few things I would do differently / modifications / notes

  • Ignore the armhole, shoulder, and neck shaping instructions that put the decreases at the very edge of the work; do all decreases one stitch in.
  • In order to compensate for the unsightly edges, I did a single crochet border around the neck where the stitches were picked up for the ribbed neckband
  • I separated the plies in the blue yarn and used that to thread the needle and sew on the buttons.
  • My version didn’t have the stripes called for in the original pattern; were I to knit this again, I would do the stripes -- they’re very cute! -
  • additional 1/2” in the body of my waistcoat

Impressions of the yarn:
I loved working with this yarn, but the final appearance of the knitted fabric is not as forgiving as regular wool -- it shows every uneven stitch and my irregular tension. It makes up for this in softness.
