Notes

Using Carolyn Lisle’s Super Mario Brothers dish cloth pattern series, I am constructing a 60”x60” blanket.
Rather than knitting each individual square and seaming it all together, I have decided to knit strips of 6 blocks (3 character blocks, 3 garter stitch block alternating), that way, that is only 6 strips to seam together, rather than 36 blocks (I was originally going to do 8 strips of 8 blocks, but I was worried about the finished weight of the blanket and it’s potential to suffocate the recipient in his sleep - LOL.)

This project very quickly became too large to leave the house and I am now second guessing my decision to knit the strips vs. knitting the blocks one by one. Part of me thinks I would work on it more if it was more portable - the other part of me knows that my seaming skills are questionable, and best to leave less to funk up.

2/17/2011 - 8 squares down, 28 to go

9/13/2011 - 13 squares down, 23 to go

9/19/2011 - 16 squares down, 20 to go
(I decided to go with knitting squares…gonna crochet them together)

4/7/2012 - 6 black squares to go and then I can finish assembling. I have all the squares stitched together (less those remaining 6 squares) and I am running out of yarn…gotta get to Hobby Lobby soon!
