a very sweet smaller size shawl ~ thanks Juju and Susan for a fun pattern!
before blocking: 31”wingspan x 15”wide
blocked: 47”wingspan x 21.5”wide (I blocked sharp points everywhere ~ see photo ~ but unpinned it just before it was dry so the points would soften a bit)
no modifications but here’s a helpful hint:
when picking up stitches for the edging, you have 42 stitches held ~ divide this section into 5 st, 32 st , 5 st ~ count 5 edge slipped stitches up from either side of held stitches & place removable marker (5slip + 5 held are the 10 stitches on either corner that you turn into 20 stitches) ~ for the other 32 held stitches, add 1 st every 4th stitch when picking up in this section to get the required 40 stitches ~ if you count along the sides, you have 66 remaining slipped stitches on either side from which to pick up and knit ~ I placed 6 removable markers every 11 stitches and on the left side, picked up 1 extra stitch in each of the 6 sections to get the required 72 stitches, and on the right side, of the 6 marked sections I picked up 1 extra stitch in each of 5 sections and in the 6th section I picked up 2 extra stitches to get the required 73 stitches … once I got all my markers placed and the math figured out it was a breeze to start at the upper left corner and p/up and knit stitches quickly
8-19-20 - it took a day to do the edging ~ those nupps made my knuckle swell … ouch! finished and blocking :)
8-6-2012 - finished chart D
8-4-2012 - finished chart C ~ a really sweet, easy knit so far
