Taught myself provisional cast-on for this, it’s not as hard as I thought it’d be, although my tension’s wobbly for that first row.

Love the yarn, it has the soft feel of alpaca, but the drape and springiness of wool.

Had to drop two needle sizes to get the gauge with this yarn, and my gauge is still a bit out. I’m getting 22.5 st/4”, where the pattern calls for 24. But I’m in between sizes, so I’ve chosen the smaller one and from my calcs it looks as though at this gauge it’ll come out just the right size.

19th Oct 2010 - Gah, this is taking ages! I’m on the slow haul part, knitting straight ss until the body’s 16” long. Why did I think this project was a good idea??

3rd Nov 2010 - Twenty episodes of House later and the body and sleeves are done, joined together and I’m now working on the short rows for the front. And have developed a curious liking for Hugh Laurie ;)

5th Nov 2010 - Am now onto the next series of House, but I’ve finished knitting the main sections of the cardigan - just the long, long edgings to go. Knitting the neckline pleats was fun, but had to be done with no distractions as it was also fiddly.
