Notes

Absolutely delighted with this blanket, think it is my favourite of all those I’ve knit.

Was looking for a straightforward baby blanket I could knit in rainbow colours and this pattern seemed to fit the bill perfectly.

After reading others’ advice here, decided to add a border to stop the stocking stitch curling.

Cast on 127 stitches so I could start and end each row with an additional k3 and create a small garter stitch border.

Also knit the very first three rows and the last four rows to create a garter stitch border at top and bottom.

I did 12 rows of each colour (red, yellow, green and blue), separated by 4 rows of white in between and a border at top and bottom of 12 rows of white.

(NB, the name of the white wool is coming up incorrectly in the auto Ravelry titling. It is colour number 2350, but the name is actually “Cloud Dancer” and not “Otter”…)

Really pleased with the blanket. Pattern is simple and easy to remember, a super quick knit as it is mostly knit and purl, but I really love the design it has made.

Torn feelings about the yarn. I adore the colours and think they look really beautiful, but I have found the yarn widths really variable on the different colours of wool (despite all being DK, of course) and even within the balls themselves, some areas are thicker than others… Also it’s not quite as soft as I would have hoped for once knit up. But it certainly looks incredibly beautiful.
