I changed the knitting pattern for the eyes, in order to have an extra bit of pupil in the middle and make them a bit smaller, so it became:

CO 8 in black, join for magic loop
Knit one round
Change to white: k1, (kfb) repeat to end of round
Knit one round
K1, (kfb) to end of round
Change to grey: knit one round
Bind off.
