Before I made this I decided to make Chartres Cathedral labyrinth, which is circular. It needed 12 increases per round so I staggered these to make sure that it really made a circle, not a shape with 12 points. Soon afterwards I discovered that there was an old labyrinth, called Walls of Troy, which has the exact same pattern of walls but is set in a 12-sided shape - so I had to make one of those too.

I made the background first using a soft boucle yarn then added the walls in surface crochet. This makes a very tactile afghan. People with limited sight can feel the path and small children love to drive round the labyrinth with toy cars.
