Pat (Woolhelmina) has been making some very small things recently. That prompted me to try making the head from my Lady with an Ermine at a smaller size.

I used the finest yarn we had and used 2 mm needles. Other people, with more delicate fingers, would be able to go much smaller and it would still work. Illusions work with any thickness of yarn. The only difference is how far away you need to stand to see the image.

Using a fairly unforgiving cotton gives a slightly different effect from a softer yarn which seems to blend together a bit more. Both work so it is really a matter of personal choice.
