Hubby went to Rosie’s and asked for help finding me a nice Christmas gift. Is he not wise? This beautiful yarn is one of the results (yes, he got me two yarns). After much thought, I decided that lace was the way to go.

I’ve always wanted to try the ostrich plume stitch pattern, so this will be fun! New techniques: the crochet cast on (not as a provisional), and the crochet chain finish.

1/19: this beautiful project went into hibernation for a variety of reasons, but I recently picked it up again (cold weather will do that, ha ha!). I’m on the home stretch, binding off now! Blocking next and then some pix.

I decided to do an alternative finish, so now there’s a third option in addition to the two choices in the pattern. I’ll put some notes here when I finish.

1/27: finally blocked. I’m not good at that, but it still came out great.

Finishing note: I used a knitted finish that looks like crochet loops, then did a standard bind-off. i followed the two-row instructions here but adjusted to fit the pineapple pattern. In the first row, which calls for SK2P stitches, I replaced every 7th one of those with S2K2P (slip 2 instead of 1 and pass both over). This aligns the stitch with the SK2P of the previous RS row (the tip of the pineapple). See third picture from top. At the end I has one stitch left over so I just did a K2TOG.
