I started with a cast on of 84, which was the middle number, to give plenty of tummy room, then only increased to 96 for the center section, which was the smaller number. I was thinking that being a fallish color, these pants would fit him more in the fall. Aside from being a little big in the hip/butt area, these fit him now! I had planned on making a smaller pair out of some blue yarn to fit him now, but I think I’ll go ahead and start on pair pretty much doing exactly what I did for these.

Other mods - I did a slipped st thing on either side of the hips to sort of be a fake seam. On every other row I either knit the st or I slipped it. On the next pair I do, I’m planning on changing that st to a purl instead. It looks a little wonky in the seed st area to have this big chain st thing going down.
