A word to explain

After casting on several times, I was convinced I would never, ever use this precious, mysterious and beautiful yarn, unless I’d use a machine. Luckily, I have an antique Swiss Passap M201 and managed to download the instructions. Machine-made (400 rows in appr. 4 hrs.) in no time), hand finished.

Method

  • provisionally cast on 120 sts by putting thin sock yarn on the machine, working + 30 rows, and then replacing it with Habu
  • worked + 400 rows of Habu, slightly less than 2 cones
  • unraveled the provisional cast on, and proceeded manually; increased to +600 sts - first on 2.5mm needles, and continued with 3.5mm metal needles. Added 6 rows of ribbing. Lace cast off.

I love the result.
