Obnoxious as in brightly colored and goofy, so no humping reindeer. ;)

Basing this off of one of my store bought sweaters. Probably going to be a drop shoulder since I’d rather not worry to much about shaping on my first sweater.

This is one of those projects that I’m (currently) surprised to be enjoying.

Middle colorwork:

Will be duplicate stitching on the lights, and probably most of the stuff on the house. I probably should have done that with the snowman, but I already started it.

This is the most balls of yarn I’ve had hanging off of one project ever. This includes like three balls of white. There probably ought to be more, but I just can’t justify not stranding over spots of color only a few stitches wide….like that darn snowman. But he’s almost done, and I at least decided to embroider on the arms.

Pretty sure I’m past the half way point of the big image. Once I’m done with this, I have to figure out what to do with the chest area and figure out a neck hole. Should be interesting…lol

Slowing down a bit since I’m easily distracted. But have made it up to the roof of the house!

7-17-2011: Think I’m gonna pick this back up. :D Later - Roof done!

7-19-2011: Made it up to Santa. Only 7 more rows of this chart. I’m nearly positive that it will be long enough to mark the armpits after this, which means I have to decide what to do for the chest section, especially since I have to fit a neck hole in somehow.

7-27-2011: I am up to where I need to put in a neck! I decided that I didn’t feel like doing drop sleeves, so instead I’m doing my best to emulate the armhole shaping on the sweater I’m basing this on. It’s a weird raglan/set in type combo thingy, but I like the way the store bought on fits. I’m just about out of blue (I decided that the entire chest would just be blue and if I wanted anything added I’ll just embroider it later) so not much else I can do other than start working out the neck on paper.

12-1-2011: Picked up again! One of the challenges in Nerd Wars is finishing WIPs. What better opportunity to push myself? So, think I can make a back and two sleeves in a month? Hahahahaha, yeah probably not but no harm in trying. :D

12-5-2011: So I was going to make the back something plain and simple, but I just couldn’t do it. On the one hand, I’m so tired of all these balls of yarn - what was I thinking with “oh, it’s just four colors”. Yeah, four colors spread across like 20 little dangling balls… On the other hand, I’m down to two colors (still like 20 balls) and I’ll soon be to the top of the actual colorwork. I’m crazy.

12-6-2011: Up to the armholes on the back.

12-17-2011: Made it to the neck split

12-19-2011: Back completed, embroidery more or less done, back and front seamed together, first sleeve started. I might add that I have no idea what I’m doing when it comes to sleeves.

12-25-2011: Done! Looks like it has shoulder pads, and the sleeves are a bit too long, but otherwise really cool!
