→ Le fil Milk Cotton de Sheng Tang Hua Shi m’a été offert par ma grand-mère et est composé de 80% de coton et 20% de protéines de lait. Une pelote contient 220 mètres de fil et pèse 125 grammes. Sa taille est de 2,5mm, se crochète en 3mm et se tricote en 3,5mm. Il peut se laver en machine jusqu’à 40°C en cycle délicat et le séchage doit se faire à plat et à l’ombre.

→ Après avoir galéré avec les échantillons, j’ai décidé de partir sur un crochet tunisien 7mm, quitte à ce que ce soit plus petit (la taille M étant du 40-42 et je fais un petit 40). Dans l’idéal, je pense qu’il m’aurait fallu un crochet 7,5mm mais je n’en avais pas.

→ Pour le montage, j’ai piqué dans le brin à l’arrière de la chaînette.

→ J’ai fait 54 rangs au total pour le corps, à partir du deuxième rang du corps et sans compter la bordure.

→ J’ai ajouté 10 rangs aux manches.

→ Pour la deuxième manche, j’ai trouvé une façon de réduire les trous sous l’aisselle en prenant des brins verticaux en plus des mailles à relever (hors celles déjà en PTT mod.). Je n’ai cependant pas eu le courage de refaire la première manche, j’ai alors cousu les trous de celle-ci avec un fil.

→ Les rangs de mailles serrées après les fausses côtes au crochet tunisien des manches et du bas du corps ont été faits au crochet simple 5mm.

→ Le côl châle a été fait au crochet simple 4,5mm. Au départ, je l’avais fait au crochet 4mm mais il était trop serré. Je m’en suis rendue compte après le lavage et la mise en forme donc j’ai défait le col pour le refaire au crochet 4,5mm.

→ Concernant la mise en forme, n’étant pas sûre de la taille que le gilet aurait une fois sec, je n’ai pas rentré les fils avant cette étape mais après.

→ Au final, le gilet se porte près du corps et les manches sont un peu courtes. Préférant des vêtements plus “loose”, il est tout de même très agréable à porter et il se prêtera mieux à l’été qu’à l’hiver.

→ Mon “problème” de taille et de rallongement du corps et des manches vient probablement du fil que j’ai choisi ainsi que du crochet utilisé qui est plus petit. Pour un prochain gilet, je veillerai à investir dans les crochets manquants ou à choisir la taille du vêtement d’encore au-dessus.

→ Le patron de Rachel Henri est très bien expliqué et illustré. Je n’ai pas eu de difficultés de compréhension et le gilet était très agréable à crocheter ! Les points de crochet tunisien se retiennent facilement et donnent un joli rendu et le col châle au crochet simple vient parfaitement finir le vêtement. Il me tarde de pouvoir essayer d’autres patrons de cette créatrice !

→ The Milk Cotton yarn was given to me by my grandmother and is made of 80% cotton and 20% milk protein. One ball contains 220 meters of yarn and weighs 125 grams. Its size is 2,5mm, can be crocheted in 3mm and knitted in 3,5mm. It can be machine washed up to 40°C in delicate cycle and the drying must be done flat and in the shade.

→ After struggling with the samples, I decided to go with a 7mm tunisian crochet hook, even if it means it will be a bit smaller (the M size is 40-42 and I’m a small 40). Ideally, I think I would have needed a 7,5mm crochet hook but I didn’t have one.

→ For the base row, I worked in the strand at the back of the chain.

→ I made a total of 54 rows for the body, from the second row of the body and not counting the border.

→ I added 10 rows to the sleeves.

→ For the second sleeve, I found a way to reduce the holes under the armpit by taking vertical strands in addition to the stitches to pick up (except those already in mod Tks). However, I didn’t have the strength to redo the first sleeve, so I sewed the holes in this one with a thread.

→ The rows of single crochet after the false ribs in tunisian crochet of the sleeves and the bottom of the body were made with a 5mm regular crochet hook.

→ The shawl collar was made with a 4,5mm regular crochet hook. I originally made it with a 4mm crochet hook but it was too tight. I realized it after washing and blocking so I undid the collar and redid it with a 4,5mm crochet hook.

→ Concerning the blocking, being not sure of the size the cardigan would have once dry, I did not weave in ends before this step but after.

→ Finally, the cardigan is worn close to the body and the sleeves are a bit short. Preferring loose-fitting clothing, it is still very pleasant to wear and it will be more suitable for the summer than the winter.

→ My “problem” with the size and lengthening of the body and sleeves probably comes from the yarn I chose as well as the crochet hook, which is smaller. For a future cardigan, I will take care to invest in the missing crochet hooks or choose a larger garment size.

→ Rachel Henri’s pattern is very well explained and illustrated. I had no trouble understanding it and the cardigan was very pleasant to crochet ! The tunisian crochet stitches are easy to remember and give a nice finish and the shawl collar in regular crochet finishes the garment perfectly. I can’t wait to try more patterns from this designer !
