Measures as 38” chest but he wants it loose, chunky and kind of slouchy.
Cast on for the back but have only completed the ribbing so far asx need 6.5 mm tips (knitpro circulars) so have to wait for them to be delivered! Colour looks good though, and chunky~ness meets with his approval, so so far so good.

Have the new tips so getting on with the masses of stockinette now. Great for no thought required time in front of the TV!

28th July
Have been working on this in between other projects, so growing pretty slowly. I think the yarn would work well with slightly bigger needles ~ 7mm or even 8mm, since it’s chunky enough for a looser weave. Also, the thickness of the yarn does vary a little (which I think adds to the overall look). The colour is fantastic ~ enough variation that the acres of stockinette stitch do not look like a boring block of colour but instead matches with the texture.

Finished sleeve, and when switching tips from 6½ to 5½ to cast on second sleeve, I found I was using one 5½ and one 6½ for the main part of the sleeve I just finished.
Bugger.

24th September
Finished increases for second arm. Purposefully left in lifelines every ten rows to make seaming easier.

28th Sept
Don’t know how I managed it, but the front is about 1½inches longer than the back, so a bit of fudging going on with attaching the sleeves. Okay, a lot of fudging.
{edit - just realised this was because I forgot the decreases straight after the ribbing at the bottom, so had too many stitches all the way up, so when I decreased for the raglan sleeve I kept going til my stitch count was right, which took several more rows than it should have! Oh well, at least I know what I did!}

29th Sept
Both sleeves now attached, neckband a little shorter than pattern as requested by Mr Manley, and front border pieces knitted. Now need to seam arms…
