Cast off loosely

I didnt do decreases at the end, but you can do it if you want a tapered sleeve.

17 Sep: Done with the body. I thought the body will not fit, so I increased 14 sts evenly across. Now the finished body looks more like a dress than a cardigan. I have a feeling this might not fit the recipient. I will finish the sleeves and give this to someone else if it doesn’t fit. Sleeves are on hold because I have lent my 4mm DPNs to anu-monty.

13 Sep: Decided to increase 14 sts evenly across instead of casting on below the armhole. Worked out well. Did about an inch of body. Not doing the garter ridges down the sides.

12 Sep: Done with yoke and am at the sleeves bind-off stage. Put the sleeve stitches on holder instead of binding off. I am stuck on the next row. Should I CO on 7 sts under the armhole? How will it work when I pick up sleeve sts?

8 Sep: After finishing up the yoke, I found the stripes were looking rather messy. Frogged the whole thing and started all over again.

6 Sep: I have decided to use the red acrylic yarn, held double. Trying it with 4 mm needles.

I am getting smaller gauge with the chosen yarn and needles. The pattern calls for 19 sts to 4”. I am getting 17 sts to 4”, which is fine by me because the cardigan will turn out bigger. That means the girl can wear it for a longer time!

I am knitting the yoke in stripes and all garter. Chose lavender and a dull purple which I think look ok with the red.
