Notes

Christmas knitting begins now.

This was the perfect combination of pattern and yarn. I am thrilled with how these came together, and enjoyed every moment of knitting them up.

I used Cat Bordhi’s trick for Slim and Trim SSKs for both the gusset decreases and the toe shaping. If you’ve never tried it, you will be amazed. I never thought my ssks were so bad, but honestly, they’re so nice now I can’t imagine ever not modifying a pattern so I could use this trick.

The pattern calls for a sport-weight yarn, but subbing in the indigodragonfly worked really well, so I wouldn’t worry too much if you can’t find a sport weight you like. I should say, though, that the Merino Silk 4-ply is on the heavier end of fingering weight yarns, so if you’re eyeing something super-fine, double check your gauge.

Over all, I love these socks, and although I kind of want them for myself, I can’t wait to give them away.
