Christmas socks! I have plans to knit a pair of these for myself as well (though in different colours), but first, gift knitting.

Notes for me:

Knit ribbing as written and then three full repeats of chart, followed by rows 1-6. Divide for heel.

Heel: sl1, purl to end; sl1, knit to end; sl1, p1 to end; etc. for 34 rows (16 slipped-purl ridges)

Gusset: After picking up first set of stitches, work Row 7 of leg chart. Next row, set up decreases and work row 1 of instep chart. Decrease gussets on even rows of instep chart.

Foot: Work instep chart until foot measures 7 inches (eight repeats), knit three plain rows in MC, knit one set of stripes, working set-up row on MC row.

Toe: Decrease on 1st + 3rd CC colour rows until 48 sts remain; decrease every row until 28 sts remain; plain row; graft toe shut.
