Notes

I originally cast on with this yarn, but sadly once I reached the cables I realized it just wasn’t going to make them pop the way I wanted them to. So, I ripped and re-started with some Brooklyn Tweed I had in my stash. It’s dark, but I’m hoping the cables will still be prominent.

I knit the first 11 rows of ribbing with the smaller needle, then switched to the larger needle for the last row of ribbing, making the increase row a little easier.

Well, I loved knitting this hat, but I have no idea how it looks so slouchy in the photo, because it barely fits me (and my head isn’t huge). I didn’t swatch, so I suppose this is my fault, but I would think that without the slouch it would still be long enough to fit comfortably. However, it was so fun to knit I might try again.

Also, while I loved how the Shelter knit up and softened after blocking, it did break a few times during the knitting, which left me with more ends to weave in than I would have liked. I’ll happily knit with it again, but I’ll watch how tightly I pull my stitches.
