Notes

First sock knit during first week of November. Second sock knit during third week of March. These are knit at a more open gauge, and will be good for spring and summer. I am in love with this colourway, and although I know these practical socks will get lots of use, I do sort of wish I’d knit this yarn into a prettier pattern.

Notes

Cast on 64 stitches, worked k2p2 rib for 1 inch (next time I won’t be so lazy and will knit 1x1 rib, which would look nicer flowing into the the 3x1 rib). Worked k3p1 rib until work measured 6.5 inches. Divided for heel: 31 heel stitches (p2tog in first round for 30 stitches), 33 instep stitches so instep is symmetrical.

Heel: 32 rows of slip-stitch. Sl1, k15, ssk, k1, turn; sl1, p3, p2tog, p1, turn; etc.

Gussets: decrease until 32 stitch heel stitches remain.

For toe: Two inches before desired length, stop ribbing. Knit one row plain. Next row: set up Cat Bordhi’s hungry stitch and decrease one instep stitch to make toe symmetrical (k15, k2tog, k to end). Decrease every other row until 48 stitches remain. Decrease every row until 24 stitches remain. Graft toe together.
