The first thing that caught my eye were those spine bone unframed cables. Then there were bobbles - a lot of them! Love it, love it, love it.
Yarn held doubled and used to the very end, so yarn length was 1250 m (pattern called for 1575 m for my size - I think that’s too much). Made 45 size for my 40 size bust to have a little bit of a positive ease.
Modifications:
- Easier bobbles. Changed 4 st cluster to 3 st: Row 3: Knit 1 into stitch 2 rows below next stitch on L needle; knit next stitch, knit 1 into same stitch 2 rows below. Row 4: Purl 3 stitches Row 5: K3tog (Knit 3 stitches together with the center st on top). Looks way way better - like small flower buds (8th, 11th pictures).
- Simple rounded neck. The original pattern neck for me was unnecessary too complicated (9th, 10th, 12th pictures).
- Accentuated wavy bottom rib. After the rib was finished made 2 st decreases under every cable section and 3 st increases under every bobble section. That little tweak let the fabric curve more and in the way I wanted (11th, 12th pictures).
- To avoid bobble felting in the underarm stop knitting bobbles high in the sleeve near the seam line.
- Sleeves made narrower in the beginning and started sleeve shaping increases earlier.
My tip:
If you want that beautiful cables and bobbles be exposed and visible, choose yarn in light color. Dark color will hide everything.
