I’m pretty happy with how this turned out, although I have no idea how big a newborn’s head is, so the sizing is a guess (hope the pattern’s accurate).

I still haven’t done much colorwork so while the pattern was quite easy to follow, the tension on the scalloped part is a bit tight -- the pic shows a bit of unevenness from it.

I found the end of the pattern around the crown a bit unclear, though it turned out perfectly fine -- whether I missed a row or boo-booed something, I don’t know, but after the pair of K1, K2tog; K rows, I ended up with 20 stitches. I ended up doing a row of K2tog to get 10, then the K2tog to get 5 as the pattern indicates, but it looks fine.
