10/11/15 This is one of my favorite projects. The pattern is simple but very elegant and I love the two color variation (first done here by sgfishy, I believe). To do the two color version, just use one color for the cast on, cast off, the stockinette rolls on either edge, and all odd rows in pattern. Use the other color for the even rows in pattern, and you have instant colorful texture!
