12/24/15 Done, blocked and gifted! I love them!

12/20 #2 Finished both mitts except for weaving in the ends and blocking. I’m hoping to do both tonight. This was a very quick knit. I think it took me less than 24 hours to get them both done!

12/20/15 Finished all but the thumb on the first mitt. It’s pretty snug on me (no surprise as I have big hands and I’m knitting a size small). I’m just hoping it’s not too snug…

This yarn and pattern pairing is definitely an interesting choice. I love it, but it’s not for everyone. The thick and thin quality of the yarn gives it a very rustic look which is a little odd combined with the cables. The silk content makes it super soft and kind of light.

12/19 #2 Somehow ended up with two extra stitches for the thumb, but my total stitch count is right. I’m not ripping back…will just carry on and hope it looks okay. In any case, ripping back wouldn’t help as I can’t figure out what to do differently anyway!

The last pic is just a gauge swatch. I’m loving how the fabric is working up! Unfortunately I started and restarted the first mitt three times so far and the yarn is getting a little ratty. I tried to use Tillybuddy’s stretchy cast on, but it was not stretching very well in this setting. I ended up going for a knitted cast on done loosely. I didn’t want to use longtail because I was afraid it would do the yarn in completely.
