8/26 part 2: Wove in all the ends. Done! Yarn usage for second mitten is lavender (6 gm), red (17 gm), pink (7 gm).
8/26/15 I finished the second one and wove in all the ends for the first one. The pattern really seems to me to be just the right mitten. I tried to make the second one a left mitten by knitting each row backwards. I think it worked out pretty well. It’s tricky, though--especially doing helical knitting on the thumbs.
8/24/15 Finished one mitten except for weaving in a few more ends. It might be a little big, but hopefully that way she’ll get a couple of years out of them. The helical knitting was tricky, particularly on the thumb. Also, the whole mitten has a bit of a twist to it, so I’m wondering if I should alter the pattern a little for the second one. Otherwise, I will end up with two right mittens. Yarn usage for first mitten is lavender (15gm), red (6 gm), pink (5 gm).
8/23/15. Making progress. It looks way cuter than the picture.
8/22/15 Got 1/3-1/2 done one mitten and measured the pink yarn. I was hoping I’d have enough to use it for the ribbing for both mittens, but it would be cutting it very close. I pulled it out and will cast on again. I’ll use red for one and lavender for the other.
8/21/15 As soon as I made the Valentine Helix Hat, I wanted to make mittens to match it. This pattern looks like you could use helical knitting with it without any trouble. It calls for the same weight yarn but knit at a different gauge, but that shouldn’t be a problem.
