My gauge was larger than the pattern’s so I followed the instructions for the 18-24 month size for a finished circumference of 17” since Mack’s head circumference was 20” in August 2021 when I last saw him.

Instead of casting on 2 sts on rows 2 and 3 I kfb in the second stitch from each end.

I worked this hat in the round instead of flat. I cast on 24 sts for the front of the hat instead of 26 sts for a total of 68 sts.

I worked in garter stitch for 1.25” after joining the earflaps instead of 2”.

I changed to red yarn for the last 2” of crown shaping.

White Yarn:
-Hat: 44g (79 yds)
-Pom-Pom: 11g (20 yds)

Red Yarn:
-Hat: 6g (12 yds)
-Pom-Pom: 11g (20 yds)
-Appliqué: 4g (7 yds)
