My gauge was larger than the pattern’s so I used the stitch counts for size 6-12 months for a finished size of 1-2 years.

I worked the selvage stitches in stockinette and worked the increases and decreases one stitch in from the edge so it would be easier to maintain the Irish moss stitch pattern while shaping.

I didn’t go down a needle size for the rib because I thought using such small needles with this yarn would be uncomfortable.

For the rib I used a long tail cast on, started with a WS row, and worked 8 rows of rib instead of 7.

The pattern says the finished length for size 1-2 years is 12.5” but the body length is 8”, the armhole length is 5”, and the shoulder shaping is 0.5” which is a total length of 13.5”. I started the armhole shaping at 7” instead of 8” for a finished length of 12.5”.

For the sleeves I used the 6-12 month stitch count and the 1-2 year row count for the increases. I increased every 4th row to 34 sts then every 6th row to 40 sts.

For the sleeve cap I followed the instructions for size 6-12 months but worked 3 rows even after the initial decreases for a total of 12 sleeve cap rows per size 1-2 years.

I picked up 51 sts for the button bands (5 sts along the rib + 3 sts for every 4 rows along the body) and worked k3 at the neck edge instead of k2. I cast on an extra stitch at the bottom edge per this button band tutorial so the bottom edge of the button band would look neat for a total of 52 sts.

I used YO buttonholes instead of bound off buttonholes. I made the buttonholes on row 3: k3, k2tog, yo, rib 9, k2tog, yo…k3.

I picked up 84 sts for the hood rib: 34 sts along the sides (3 sts for every 4 rows) + 16 sts from the 19 sts across the top.

I used five 1 1/4” toggles from Amazon.
