I drafted my first cardigan pattern!

I was inspired by this cardigan

It’s knitted flat from the bottom up, seamed, and stitches are picked up for the button band and around the neck. The whole thing is knitted in stockinette and I used little bits of yarn I had laying around for the embroidery.

I think I picked up too many stitches around the neckline because it lies kind of weird.

I wouldn’t mind if the sleeves were like an inch longer.

The buttonholes are too big and when I tried to use satin stitch to make them smaller it made the button band look sloppy. So this cardigan doesn’t actually close.

I used two books to help me design this cardigan: Knitwear Design Workshop and Knitting Pattern Essentials. I mostly used Knitwear Design Workshop and it was very helpful. I used Knitting Pattern Essentials as a second reference. It has lots of good tidbits.
