I went up a hook size but my gauge was still a little small, so I added another increase row and a few more rows before joining for the body. I didn’t add any rows to the body, so my cardigan is 12.5” long instead of 13.5”.

I didn’t use a smaller hook for the SC edging because I didn’t want to “hold in the fullness” across the lower edge.

I finished the armholes with 2 pattern rows instead of 1 because a sleeveless worsted weight wool garment is pretty much unwearable.

This worked up quickly once I got past the 3rd row. It took me an embarrassingly long time to figure out what was going on. Half of my confusion was caused by my not placing stitch markers in the INC-V stitches, so I kept confusing them with the SH stitches. The other half was caused by trying to follow the wrong PATT ROW 2. (FYI: follow the PATT ROW 2 directions in the purple box, not the directions for the row you just did…)

I used a 1” button from Joann Fabrics.
